Credits Required at Each Stage of Programmes

To progress from one stage to the next students must achieve:

  • Foundation degrees      120 credits
  • Honours degrees          120 credits

 

For awards students must achieve the following credits:


Undergraduate Awards:

Foundation degree – 240 credits in total:
120 credits at Certificate level and 120 credits at Intermediate level

Ordinary Degree (an unclassified pass degree)– 300 credits in total:
120 credits at Certificate level, 120 credits at Intermediate level and 60 credits at Honours level

Honours degree – 360 credits in total:
120 credits at Certificate level, 120 credits at Intermediate level and 120 credits at Honours level

 

Postgraduate Awards:

Masters degree – 180 credits at Masters level

Postgraduate Diploma  – 120 credits at Masters level

Postgraduate Certificate – 60 credits at Masters level

Professional Graduate Certificate in Education – 60 credits at Honours level or, 30 credits at Honours level and 30 credits at Masters level

 

If undergraduate students withdraw from the University before completing their degree, if they have sufficient credits they are eligible for the following awards:

Certificate of Higher Education - 120 credits

Diploma of Higher Education - 240 credits
