On-line Library Resources
Marjon University Library subscribes to a growing number of on-line services to give you access to academic journals, books, databases, newspapers and searching facilities. The term 'databases' is bit of a catch all term used to to denote services which provide access to libraries of photographs, videos, maps or numerical data such as census information. The library can give you more information about the range of services it subscribes to. Either call in to the library or look on our web site at http://www.marjon.ac.uk/student-life/library/electronic-resources/ to find out more.
All these services require authentication but if you are on campus when you access many of these services you will not be required to enter your username and password. The reason for this is that many services recognise that the request to them originates from the Marjon campus and lets you straight in. When you are working remotely you will nearly always be asked to provide your username and password.
The authentication system used by most of services is part of a UK Universities wide network so although the authentication page you get may look different from service to service the general procedure is as follows:
Identify the institution of which you are a member. You can select from a very long list or type part of our institution name into the box. The institution you need to select is “University of St Mark & St John”.
Enter your University username and password.
If you are denied access to a service to which you believe you should have access please ask the library helpdesk about it in the first instance. There are sometimes problems with particular services. The library will notify you of any major problems with service access via a notice on the front page of LearningSpace and on the Community Hub.
